Michelle's Dog Training
Any dog can be a good dog!
Service Dog Training
This training is structured for your dog to learn how to handle real life situations that may occur during service work.
Stages of training :
-
STAGE ONE: Basic Obedience Training
-
Communication Cues using sit, down, stay, come, etc.
-
If Basic Obedience is already complete then I require a one time evaluation session
-
-
STAGE TWO: Public Access Training
-
This training stage timeline flexes to your needs - because of this we typically calculate week to week.
-
Examples: Elevators, stairs, crowds, kids, other animals, etc.
-
-
STAGE THREE: Task Training
-
This training stage timeline is dependent on the type of tasks needed, for this reason we continue to calculate week to week.
-
Keep in mind the dog must perform 3 unique jobs for you to be considered a service animal.
-
Focus of this stage: specific tasks the dog needs to learn for your disability, this stage has the benefit of cementing in strong relationship bonds as well.
-
Note: We do not move through training stages faster then the dog can handle them. They are designed to help the dog want to work; and moving too quickly might cause the dog to fail. Service dog training is not a small job and it is important to make sure the dog wants to do the work before he/she is put into real life situations.
